Being Complain-Free

Are you a complainer? Here's a remedy. John Legend sings "I Won't Complain" Enjoy!

Let's be free of complaining. What good does it really do anyway?

Wow, Judith. Everytime I check back into your blog you've written another book! Sorry I can't keep up.

Hey this Legend dude can sing (and play). Seems like a humble fellow too. And I LOVED the audience shots. These women were lit up by the performance! (An audience interests me as much as a performer.) The quality of the "listening" says a lot about who Oprah is and the kind of audience she draws. Wish I was there in person.

I can especially relate to the theme. I've had an inner ear condition that started last winter (vertigo, apparently triggered by loose particles in the ear canals) that's kept me pretty much home for the last 5 months. (I'm doing my client work by phone in the meantime.) Yet I've been feeling *SO* grateful lately - grateful for being able to take walks in the park (most days), grateful for the support network I have, grateful for my garden visitors (chipmunks, squirrels, sparrows) - some of whom eat out of my hand. The older I get the more I appreciate the basics - a cardinal landing in the bush next to me asking for food, a great book for bedtime reading (The Tibetan Book of the Dead, believe it or not!), a macrobiotic meal delivered by my favorite cook, a day off (today) with no obligations or phone calls to make. This is the good life!

Thanks for the inspiring messages!

John...what a beautiful reply. Thank you. At any age it seems so wonderful to take notice of the "small" things. I remember as a kid just being so happy to see wild flowers as we traveled, birds feeding at feeders, or bees landing on flowers. Life is beautiful...indeed. All the very best to you today and always.

You seem right on about the humility of John Legend and the beauty of the audience's warm response which I agree is indicative of the host. Oprah is much loved and appreciated. John Legend is most certainly a favorite, as is my favorite of all time, Marvin Gaye.

Speaking of MG, I fondly remember the arguments I used to have with my musician friends as to who was the greatest singer of my generation - Stevie Wonder or Marvin Gaye. I always took the minority view (in favor of Marvin) but of course it was silly to compare superlatives.

Whenever someone says something to me that's totally fanciful, instead of replying "Sure, and I wish I could fly without wings," I just say "Sure, and I wish I could sing like Marvin Gaye." Of course flying without wings would be a lesser achievement.

Bravo, John! LOL! I love Stevie for many reasons. But I would have to go with my main man, Marvin Gaye!
