Being Lena Horne
Lena Horne (June 30, 1917 – May 9, 2010) We so honor you for your great contributions to the arts and for uplifting a people for so many years. Thank you.

Ms. Horne was a remarkable talent and one I can remember hearing when I was growing up. My Dad had several of her albums that were played quite often between the polka and country western music that always seemed to be playing in tee house. Were it not for Ms. Horne's voice, my folks would have been guilty of musical child abuse! Talent, class and a social conscience! A great lady indeed!!
Beautiful tribute here Judith. Lena Horne was an amazing artist and person. I've only seen Cabin in the Sky which was amazing. I really want to see Stormy Weather. Thanks for the lovely video and tribute.

So true, Pam. A friend of mine said to me earlier that Dorothy Height greeted Lena Horne upon her arrival in heaven with a beautiful hat. I loved that. They are both missed. But we are happy that they were among us for so very long.
When I was a young lad I fell madly in love with Lena Horne--and never quite got over it. She was, in truth, a great women…one who today's young people would do well to emulate. Ms. Horne, we indeed honor you.
Oh, Bob, I love it! This morning it is particularly good to see you. Amid the muck and mire of men and women seeking to simply get theirs no matter their age or how much attained in one position of power to another with the support of their likewise others, there is something to be said for beautiful white hair, wisdom, integrity, knowledge, understanding and strength. So, thank you. I shall not waiver. I shall not be moved. This is the lesson learned from the likes of Lena Horne.

By the way, Bob, plenty men feel madly in love with Lena Horne. :-) There is a love fest continuing on Facebook for this great lady. It's nice.
I thought about Dorothy Height when I heard of her passing. We need to remember their example
