Being a Detroiter

On a brilliant day of sunshine in Detroit I saw a Chrysler Charger with a rich maroon hard top with darts on all four sides pointed down onto the sparking champagne body that rode atop big spit-fire shining chrome wheels. The driver wore shades, slightly leaning to the left bobbing his head coolly--to what tune, I don't know--confidently, somewhat cocky. I smiled. That's so Detroit!

Sounds like a cool way to get around the city!

Charger! That is one kewl car! A bad man's car! I write so as most villains in the past drove a Charger! Grr! Love that car!

Oh, excuse me, my nephew. I'm a bit outdated. I meant "keeeewl." :-) And, yeah, it's a great car! I like this line: "A bad man's car! I write so as most villians in the past drove a Charger! Grr! Love that car!"

Here is what a Facebook friend said:

"That was once me! In a Canary Yellow Pontiac GTO, with Black Tempest interior, and a Munce eight track stereo! Roy Orbison shades, Marlboros in my shirt sleeve. Gas 27cents a gallon, and nothing but highway. SWEET!"

He may not have been a villain but he was one baaaad dude! :-)

By the way, my Facebook friend is a white dude from Arizona. Obviously, Detroit is not the only place for "kewl." Although, I don't think this Detroit brother was listening to Roy Orbison. LOL! But who knows! Kinda doubt it, though. There was something about that funk in his bump. :-)

Judith,

Here's hoping you get to see many more things "so Detroit" in the future! Here's hoping the city finds a way to get to be a growing and prosperous community once again...

That is very 'Detroit' and something that remains in me wherever I travel.

Not to mention the appreciation for big strong charcter American cars that seems to be an exclusive 'Detroit' thing!
