I've said this before but I need to say it again: Sarah Palin is a joke. Senator McCain is also a joke for nominating such a one who could have been a heartbeat away from the presidency. Palin will step down from being the Governor of Alaska next month. (Just imagine if she was in the White House now? Perish the thought!) Maybe Senator McCain should step down from the Senate too.
Besides being a joke, Palin's a beauty queen opportunist who was given a national platform because of the foolishness of Senator McCain. It's hard to believe that she has ever had any real political ambitions; it's hard to believe that she ever really cared about the people of Alaska. If she does not care about the people of Alaska how will she care about the people of the entire nation?
What a joke! Now go away and return to your winking and prancing on another stage in another arena. Maybe there's a reality show down the road. Good luck with that.

This came as quite a surprise to everyone except for her and her supporters. While the world is focused on other issues she quietly resigns. She will of course do a book tour and lend herself to causes and talk shows to keep her name out there. Definately plan on her making an attempt at the White House in 2012.
I know, the thought of being subjected to her again is painful.
My sister, Jill, just called and was like "Judith, what's wrong with her?" She may come back but I I'm not too sure about that. Politics on the national level, perhaps on any level, does not seem to be her forte. I really see her as an entertainer of sorts. But I remain furious that she could have been the president in these very tumultuous times here and abroad.
Judith: I think the folks that claim she's a "victim" of predatory media forget how divisive she was as a VP candidate. The way she talked about "real Americans" definitely left me - and apparently a few others - outside the fold. But from what I've heard from the McCain camp, his advisors were appalled by her lack of qualifications - and by HIS recklessness in choosing her. But McCain now seems resentful of her also. What a mess...

This is so very true, John. I had forgotten about how divisive she was until my brother called me earlier this evening and reminded me of this very thing.
I also agree that Senator McCain now wants to disassociate himself from Sarah Palin. But I was writing last year repeatedly about the gross irresponsibility of his VP selection.
It is still quite upsetting that McCain loved the country so little and himself so much more. He seemed to want to win the presidency at any cost. This is how I saw it then and now.
How anyone could have seen SP as remotely qualified for national office STILL eludes me. Now if she decides to devote a chunk of her life to educating herself on the issues - that's a different story, because she does have the political skills. But then again, there may be character issues there that will ultimately doom her chances for national office. (But I can't claim to be objective on the subject!)

A Huffington Post blogger, Kelly Smith, posted the below comment at 10:23 PM on 7.4.09 about Palin's point that "a good point guard drives through a full court press, protecting the ball, keeping her eye on the basket _ and she knows exactly when to pass the ball so that the team can win. And I'm doing that."
Kelly's response:
"Let me get this straight. A good point guard takes the ball and passes it. Then runs off the court, out to the lobby and out of the building? This is how women play basketball in Alaska? Gee, I know nothing of sport, but I do know that leaving before the final bell is not good sportsmanship. Right?"
