Being is the essence out of which all things evolve. This blog is an ongoing conversation of being in various facets and areas of life, including the personal and the professional from which relationships of all kinds are formed and teams built in all communities, virtual or real, at home, at work, in politics and at play.

Being Unrecognizable
Slugger Sammy Sosa's on the left, but who's on the right?
The photo on the right was taken of Sosa on November 4. Hmm?
Pam - So, it seems that Sosa is not sick. Here's a friend's explanation taken from the "Chicago Tribune." For me, this explanation makes it even creepier.
"He's not trying to be Michael Jackson," said former Cubs employee Rebecca Polihronis, who talks frequently with Sosa.
"He is going through a rejuvenation process for his skin. Women have it all of the time. He was surprised he came out looking so white. I thought it was a body double. Part of (the photo appearance) is just the lighting.
"He is in the middle of doing a cleansing process to his skin. The picture is deceiving. He said, 'If you saw me in person, you would be surprised. When you see me in person, it is not going to seem like the picture ... People who saw him in person did not react the same way. He can't believe it is such a big deal."
What? Does he think he can rejuvenate his skin better than Mother Nature? This is pure BS! Who would have thought he was this creep?!
Corrie - Sammy Sousa does not have vitiligo as did MJ. This photo just totally creeps me out. I imagine his whole body is the same color. If you look at his neck, it is the same color as his face, no lighting there. I have modeled and have been in film; this is not lighting. It's just gross to me. He is the color of bones.
AJ - I can't even believe I published that photo here. It just creeps me out to look at it. MJ was sympathetic to me because of his disease and his life since childhood. Sosa is just creepy!
I had to laugh out loud today when I read on MSN that he said his skin was lighter due to a cosmetic skin softening cream he uses---AND being under the bright lights so often. HA! That is hilarious!!! Sometimes you just gotta laugh. Blessings, Judith!
A lot of skin creme, eh, Marion? Right! What about his hands and neck? There is obviously a lot of self-loathing going on there. Oh, it's so sad. Now, he probably has to avoid the sun more than most. His skin doesn't even look natural. I can't stop saying it, but it's so gross. Looking at him gives me the willies.
Lighting definitely has a little to do with this pic, but not much.
You can clearly see shadows on his collar in the left pic, but none in the right pic. So the flash was much closer and definitely lightened his skin more than normal.
It's obvious he's lightening his skin. But why do you say it looks "unnatural"? If you have never seen him before, would you say that? It just looks like he's a lighter skinned person.
I'd like to know what he's using, I know some women who would do that.
For myself, I'd like to find something to darken my complexion like it was when I was younger... I'm almost see-through!
As for MJ, yeah no, that's an excuse, he lightened his skin because he wanted to look white. Same as Sousa, same creepiness.

Has there been any reports of him being ill? Or is this an altered photograph of him?

My first thought was Michael Jackson. But I also wondered if lighting from the camera could make this kind of difference?

I thought it was a wax figure! The truth is, indeed, much creepier.
It is just so very weird, David. Gross!
I thought, MJ, again! As you've mentioned, the truth creeps me out.
