Being Stupid or Responsible?

Okay, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs isn't funny. We can all agree on that. But I dare you not to at least smile watching this video. Are these criminals stupid or responsible? Both?

It's like a SNL skit. So right and wrong are dueling in their conscience as they drive along. One minute: Call 911. Next minute: Maybe another drink.

Oh, Kelly, what a great response!

Drunk Driver: Somebody's really drunk driving down Granton Road."

Dispatcjer: Ok, are you behind them or...

Drunk Driver: No, I am them.

Dispatcher: You am them?

Drunk Driver: Yes, I am them.

Kelly, I must admit to laughing so hard at this exchange that I cried and could barely breathe.

Man! People do crazy things!!

I've had to call the cops on a drunk before, he drove up to the gas meter with the door open, then drove off... hopefully the cops picked him up quick.

Yes, we do crazy things, indeed. Regarding being drunk, there was one time where I received surprisingly words of wisdom from such a one when I was quite distressed. He was not behind the wheel and some have said that he was an angel so disguised. On the very serious side, I think it's awful for those battling alchololism and heartbreaking for those having to deal with loved ones with this problem. The very best to all of these.

Judith, after I watched the video, I thought of the Pogo comic that said, "We have met the enemy and it is us."

I have to admit, I laughed harder at the marijuana call in than the drinkers. And the motorized recliners are hilarious, too. Thanks for sharing some serious, yet light-hearted news. Laughter is healing. Blessings!

Yeah, Marion, the recliner bit is too funny. How inventive, eh? If he's married, I feel bad for his wife. This guy wants to literally live in his recliner. LOL! And, how true is the Pogo quote? :-)

Oh, man. I would hate to claim any of these people as my relatives. You know you're too drunk to drive yet get behind the wheel of a car but then call 911 to report yourself so they can tell you to pull over. *sigh*

Okay, you're punking me, aren't you Judith?

Judith Ellis said...

Uh, no, Rebecca. :-)

Okay, let me rephrase - I already knew about this and what I was trying to say is that it feels like we're being punked! On the good side, I am thankful they had the sense to call but where was that sense when they got in their cars?

Uh, still no, Rebecca. We saw this woman's mug shot in the video. She was charged for this crime. We were even given her name! I'm from Michigan and I remember the pot story in the news here. I also remember reading the recliner story when it happened. You're hoping they're not distant cousins, eh? :-) Yeah, I know the feeling.

The power of your conscious. It's amazing that these people dimed themselves. Love it. That little voice inside themselves not shutting up no matter how many brandy and cokes they throw back. PS LOVE your blog!

jdcoughlin - Welcome. It's good to have you here. I love your comment, especially the opening. The dimmed bit was pretty funny and the power of the conscious true indeed. Happy you appreciate the blog. The commenters are pretty awesome too. Do pass through again.
