Being Thankful

This image of George Thomas from Connecticut's Pequot tribe giving thanks to Senator Kennedy as he stood before the flag draped casket beside an honor guard was particularly moving for me. In our own way, through our various religious traditions, many of us thank God, I through Jesus Christ, for the life and work of Senator Edward Kennedy.

Rest in eternal peace, dear senator.

We thank you.

That picture tells us so much about how Senator Kennedy reached a diverse array of people through his words and actions. I know Senator Kennedy would have been touched to see this man's display of respect and admiration. Thank you Judith for sharing this moving picture.

Yes, Kelly. You hit it right on with regards to Senator Kennedy's ability to draw others. He seems to have been able to do this because of his genuine concern for them. I too think that Senator Kennedy would have been pleased by "this man's display of respect and admiration." I also so appreciate that he did not care what others might think of him. After all, he had come from Connecticut to show his appreciation. I like him.

I thought it was great to see in the photo the Native American at the funeral.

As you suggest, Judith at the public occasion such as the funeral for Senator Kennedy things get expressed that otherwise that otherwise would not.

Well done to everybody concerned.

It was shown here through a Pay TV, they call it here, but did not get much time to really watch the whole program. I hope ABC will do a rerun for the full coverage without commercial.

Yes, wmmbb. And I know that in your country of Australia, which I loved and lived, there are those great people, your indigenous people--the Aborigines.

Bonnie - Sometimes you can catch repeat of these airings online. Try C-Span. C-Span is one of my favorite sources for news, book reviews, and national events.

This photograph speaks to the legacy Senator Kennedy left behind.

What an amazing gift to give and what an amazing gift to receive.

I hope we all who were moved by the Senator's life and legacy are now moved in what arena we find ourselves to extend ourselves as well to others.

As always thanks for sharing.

Pam - I love your words about giving and receiving and also those that encourage us to do what we can in our own arena. As always, it's good to read your comment. Thank you, friend.
