Gertude Baines, the world's oldest person who was born in 1894, died yesterday. She was 115 years old and lived by herself up until a decade ago and went to church regularly until more recently when she became bed-ridden.
What a dignified woman, eh? And, what about that skin? Mrs. Baines had lived long enough to vote for President Obama and kept a signed photograph of the president on her wall. She died peacefully in her sleep during the breaking of dawn.

Dang, she looked younger than some 60 year old women I know! That's a good, long life, 115 years. Funny thing, but my daddy was born in 1894, too. Mama was in her early 20's when she married him and he was in his 50's. He died in 1960, though. Fascinating post, Judith. Blessings!

May she forever rest in peace. What a beautiful woman! I'm so happy that she was able to see President Obama elected. It must have made her heart sing :)
Kelly - Can you imagine what this woman endured in her long life and to see the election of President Obama? Obviously, she stayed clear of bitterness and strife. The dignity of her held head and the supplness of her skin reveal this. RIP, indeed.
My first reaction was, "she does not look like she is 115". May her soul rest in peace!
