McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt claimed that "She (Sarah Palin) knew nothing." Palin had to be taken through World War I, World War II, the Cold War, and she was not aware there was a difference between North and South Korea. She thought they were the same country. My fifteen year-old nephew knows this.
Palin insisted that Iraq was behind 9/11 in spite of data proving otherwise and when her son was sent to Iraq, she couldn't describe who we were fighting. Her explanation for being chosen as the VP candidate was that it was God's will. I guess God must have gotten it wrong when, in fact, her God was Senator Lieberman. He was said to have gone to personally pray with her.
Although it is said that Sarah Palin was a quick study in the video, obvious she wasn't that quick. All of her interviews were disastrous and it was very obvious that she does not even read. It could probably be asserted that she has not read her own book. She certainly didn't write it. She can't even speak in coherent sentences. I guess these campaign officials have to say something good about the ignorant VP candidate John McCain chose. He should retire soon.
It appears that Sarah Palin will now spread her ignorance on Fox News. How could they even be considered a legitimate news broadcast? It is not surprising that Sarah Palin is the the tea party's candidate. I tried to think of a softer word instead of ignorance, but this is the best descriptive for the woman who could have been one step away from the presidency. Did I say that John McCain needs to retire soon?

I don't think she is ignorant, I think she is delusional.
Zorro - I think she is both ignorant AND delusional. LOL! The woman knows "nothing." I agree with Schmidt
is she that much less ignorant than bush?
I'm not sure Reagan was on that ball all that much.
According to an interview I heard on NPR, Reagan did not really understand the destructive power of nuclear weapons until he saw the ABC mini series 'The Day After' that ran while he was President. According to the interview, this series is what motivated Reagan to push for the Star Wars initiative.
If she doesn't know the answer to something she can smile and wink. That says it all. Fox can have her. Somehow she fits there.

President Bush may not have been the brightest, but at least he had Laura. :-) Bush was dangerous because when he lacked knowledge he seemed to allow others to feed him misinformation. (His father was less ideological and more moderate.) Sarah Palin is destructive because as you pointed out delusion. This enables her to think that she is actually knowledgeable. But she seems to believe that her "knowledge" comes from some higher source when, in fact, nothing could be further from the truth. After all, she is NOT the VP of the United States. I hear many Christian conservatives making excuses for this. They make a prophecy every time and when it doesn't come to pass they backpedal and weasel out of the prophecy by giving yet another. Many of these people live lives of deception.
DB - She had the audacity to say that she was honored to be working for such a "fair and balanced" network. Talk about deception! She couldn't possibly believe this. It's all about ratings and playing to the audience. I'm still quite annoyed with McCain that he brought this woman to the forefront. He should be ashamed of himself for choosing such a one as his running mate.
Fox now has Palin, Rove, and Huckabee to demonstrate their impartiality. Wow. How can you argue with that?
I heard Palin's working on her second book. Great. After that she'll read her third book. One step at a time.
The strength of an organization is measured by its leadership and spokespersons. That pretty well tells us where the Republican Party is at with Steele at its head, the conservatives are at with the Tea Party, and Fox News is at with Sarah Palin.
Heaven help us.
Oh, John, that is too funny about Sarah Palin's new book. I laughed aloud. And regarding Fox, you are right on!
Great comment, Bob! It's so very true. Thanks for the succinct clarity.
I think if there is anyone who deserves to be called "Ignorant" or "Delusional" is the Campaign Manager himself next to John McCain. Why bother picking a woman if she knows nothing? She is a beauty, not a brain, alas! Was it John McCain's strategy to put his party as a laughing stock in the political arena knowing that they were going to lose the election anyway?
Truly, I feel sorry for Sarah Palin.
Your point about Schmidt and McCain is understood on one level in that they chose Palin. While I don't know Schmidt, I don't think John McCain is delusional or ignorant. I think he made a calculated decision to try to win the presidency at all cost. He knew that he would never be able to run again, although it might be likely that he is positioning himself with his latest ad to run again in 2012. God help us!!!
Personally, I could care less about what Sarah Palin looks like. Are women in government leadership thought to be unattractive? I don't for the life of me understand why people are constantly concentrating on this woman's looks. Yes, she is attractive, but is she a Princess Grace or Dianne Carroll or Sophia Loren? Uh, NO! Also, she most certainly does not have the grace or elegance of any of these women. But beauty is, of course, in the eyes of the beholder.
What people are talking about appears to largely be sex appeal. Men--a particular group, I might add--seem to be drawn to her winking eyes like magnets. How foolish! In any regard, her looks will not enable her to lead in this very complex world. Her ignorance is devastating and could be quite destructive in any position of leadership.
