Being Prepared to Lead IV

Earlier here I wrote words that indicated that Senator swears as he listens to Sentor Obama speak about his reluctance to meet with the prime minister of Spain, a NATO ally. It's possible that he may not have sworn. I leave it up to you to decide.

Whether Senator McCain swore here or not may not be as relevant as the many voices of his fellow senators and video clips which show him being clearly out of control. This is reason to question his preparedness to negotiate sensitive matters and give us concerns that he would dangerous as Commander in Chief.

Personally, I have travelled abroad frequently and I would like to see our image restored internationally. Senator McCain is not the man.

The endlessly repeated quote by the Iranian Prez about "wiping Israel off the face of the map" happens to be an urban myth, but no one wants to correct it for fear of being labeled pro-Iranian. Ahmadinejad was quoting the Ayatollah Khoumeini who said "this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the pages of time." Not an endearing statement of course, but far less bellicose than the mistranslation. (By analogy, I'd LOVE to see the local MacDonald's vanish but I'm not going to go over and blow it up.)

There are many things to respect about McCain, including his celebrated independence eight years ago when he took on the extreme right in his own party. But on foreigh policy he's become a dinosaur, caught in a time warp, fighting a 40 year old war.

John - Thank you so much for that. I had no idea of the context. Wow!Much appreciated.

I'll have to do a little more research on the independent McCain. I have not seen much independence lately. What I am really concerned with is his obvious out of control temper. I question if he is emotionally prepared to lead. I am also concerned that all seems to viewed through the prism of war.

I listened to Ahmadinejad's speech at the UN and his extensive press conference thereafter. I have many impressions that I would like to write about, perhaps after more study of him and his country. Iran is an ancient culture.

You are too funny, John! So, you're not a fan of McDonald's, eh? Following a macrobiotic diet, I understand. :-)

To tell you the truth, Judith, one time when I was starving to death I went to a McDonald's, ordered a Filet o' Fish, threw out the bread (it actually bounced), and ate the fish (after scraping off as much of the salt & batter as I could). There was so much corn syrup in it, it tasted like a dessert.

Haven't had McDonald's in such a very long time. But I guess if I were starving a fish sandwich would probably be the next best thing. I was a vegeterian for 12 years and have begun eating meat again. It's not a religion for me. I've been doing some research on the macrobiotic diet lately and will probably try it.
