Being on The Tonight Show II

On "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" President Obama said that the AIG executives felt "entitled" to bonuses. The usage of this word got me thinking about how we used to hear a lot about welfare mothers feeling entitled to government benefits. Remember that? I liked the word for it conjures up images of these mostly men in suits on Wall Street and in AIG as welfare receiptients.

A major distinction is that welfare mothers could not harm the U.S. and world economies like these guys have and neither would they feel entitled to receive bonuses for doing nothing to change their situation to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars after having been given hundreds of billions of dollars in bailouts.

Many of these Wall Street and AIG executives are welfare receipts and should be kicked off the welfare rolls, not to mention many senators and congressmen in Washington who performance is tantamount to a sense of entitlement.

Hi Judith, it's amazing how the
already rich can justify stealing
more for themselves, while bashing
single/widowed mothers and their
children.

Hi Cynthia - So true. This is a great disparity. It hampers and destroys both the thief and others. And, yes, may God bless the widowed mothers and their children. Thank you for that rememberance.
