Being Trash

Tammy Bruce called the First Lady "trash" and pretended as if she did not understand the disparity that Michelle Obama spoke of when black kids in the inner city speak properly and are labeled white.

The First Lady is explaining to kids who live in the inner city the importance of getting their grades and not being daunted by others no matter what is said about them. It is a very important message for these kids to hear, especially from her.

To the encouraging words of the First Lady to these kids that were so blessed to have heard them, Tammy Bruce says, "Man, oh, man. That's who he's married to? Do you know what we have in the White House? We have trash in the White House."

How do these people get shows or sit in for other people who have such shows? Do you ever remember any First Lady ever being called "trash?" Do you ever remember such disrespect spoken about the wife of the President and mother of his children? In fact, the implication here is that the President too is "trash."

Who is married to Tammy Bruce? What a daily nightmare this must be. Does she have children? What life-lessons is she teaching them? What kind of people are they? The President has a most beautiful family. One of the things the President said in the recent "60 Minutes" interview was that he is glad that his children have remained their same non-pretentious selves.

We have beautiful thoughtful considerate people in the White House.

The Write Girl - Not only is Michelle Obama all of those things you have said of her, but she also has a heart for common people. This is one of the things that I appreciate most.

To disrespect the President's wife in this regard is extraordinary. But of course, Bruce also implied that the President himself and his children are all trash with her "we have trash in the White House."

You did well with the "classless" and "beyond tasteless" description. The words that came to my mind were by far worse than that--believe me! I had to ask for forgiveness for the mere thought.

I wonder if Bruce has a family.

Judith - After reading this post, I sat in stunned silence for some time. I have trouble believing there are people in any segment of the media that are this stupid. I never listen to him, but I don't think even Rush is this vitriolic.

Regardless of political beliefs, I think we are fortunate to have a real "family" in the White House. The involvement of the President and his family in their community is something we haven't seen since...maybe ever. The entire family is like a breath of fresh air.

Thank you for this post, although it made me angry and sad.

Ah, Bob, thank you for that. The fact that the President and First Lady are modelling what they'd like to see across America with regards to community involvement is so very important. Regarding Limbaugh, he has most certainly made similiar outrageous statements, all under the guise of "humour," of course.

"Tammy Bruce is an openly gay, pro-choice, gun owning, pro-death penalty, voted-for-President Bush authentic feminist. A lifelong Democrat, in the 1990s she worked to help elect Senators Feinstein and Boxer, and aided the Clinton for President campaign. Before we knew he was a sexual compulsive and "did not have sexual relations with that woman."

In an effort to see who this woman is I did a little research. This is what I've come to know from a biography on her website. She obviously does not have a husband. Let's pray that she does not have children.
