You know the saying, "absolute power corrupts absolutely." With the former Vice-President Cheney's statements since he has left office, one cannot help but to wonder if for the last eight years this man ruled "absolutely." He seems utterly incapable of releasing power. It seems utterly unfathomable to him. I have really tried to be respectful of the former Vice-President but he does appear absolutely corrupt.
The President should simply not respond directly to another statement made by Dick Cheney. Think about it. This man was the Vice-President. Or, was he? He definitely was not. President Bush has more class than the former Vice-President.

Cheney's time in office has expired. It's time for him to move his mind out of the White House as well. Devote his time to other pursuits. His present behavior is not going to be very flattering in future history texts. I agree that our President should not engage in this kind of negative give and take.
Indeed, septembermom. Maybe the President's change of possible prosecution of those who called for torture of detainees will get him to think twice before speaking, although I don't think this is the reason for the reversal. Senator Feinstein, Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, urged the President to keep all options open until the committee's review is complete.
