Being First Families IV

"President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama on Saturday doled out presidential M&Ms and dried fruit mixes to more than 2,000 trick-or-treaters, marking their Halloween at a White House event partly aimed at honoring military families," reports the AP.

It's great to have kids in the White House again. What fun!

That did look like fun. I wonder how they selected and controlled the security? (Living in in a bedroom community of D.C. I know lots of Secret Service officers, so I learn a lot about security.)

Yeah, I actually wondered also about the security and selection. According to the article above, the kids came from Maryland, Virginia and DC. I would have liked to have been there, Corrie!

Some kids have all the luck! LOL! I, too, was wondering how you got to be a preferred trick or treater. When we were kids, they'd pile us in back of my uncle's old truck and he'd drive us to the richest neighborhoods in town where we'd load up on candy, candy apples and cupcakes. (That was before razors and pins in food). It's nice to see kids at he White House. Great post, Judith. Blessings!

So much fun! I love the happiness on the President and First Lady's faces. The White House is a place to play too sometimes :)

What a wonderful view of life in the White House. We should cherish these times--our American culture at its finest.

I passed out candy too complete with chocolate and hard canday along with a fire pit to keep us warm, but I didn't look as gorgeous as the First Lady.

Marion - I love your story. Thank you for that. The opening was fun too. By the way, from the AP article the event was geared towards children whose parents are in the military. This is wonderful.

Yeah, Kelly, I think I heard the President once say that his kids keeps his job in perspective as they keep him grounded. This helps with leadership. The White House is undoubtedly a fun house too. Kids bring fun! I love them.
