Being is the essence out of which all things evolve. This blog is an ongoing conversation of being in various facets and areas of life, including the personal and the professional from which relationships of all kinds are formed and teams built in all communities, virtual or real, at home, at work, in politics and at play.

Being Marian Anderson
"I suppose I might insist on making issues of things. But that is not my nature, and I always bear in mind that my mission is to leave behind me the kind of impression that will make it easier for those who follow."
What do I know, but this song sounds like "God Save the Queen". Had I known, when this was our national anthem, I could have stood and song these words, instead of remaining seated.
Well, wmmbb, there is that historical legacy to consider as our statesmen were, of course, from across the Pond. The influence I'm sure is heard in God Bless America. I recognized the similarity years ago. Nice melody indeed.
While we wish the Queen well, we do not readily stand or bow in automatic deference to her. God Bless America, by the way, is not our national anthem, neither does the Queen's face grace our currency.
Does Australia remain a part of the Commonwealth of England?
The Queen, for the moment, remains the Head of State following the loss of the Republic Referendum in 1999. Australia remains part of the Commonwealth, which includes republics such as India, Ghana and South Africa, and numerous others Parliamentary democracies such as Canada and New Zealand also have the Queen as the nominal head of state, who is supposedly represented by a Governor-General appointed by the respective governments. We now have a woman as Governor-General following the earlier examples of Canada and New Zealand.

Long moment. The Empire was truly imperial.
We at least hold constitutional referenda from time to time, while it is true that they are normally destined to be lost.
Anyway, Marian Anderson was fantastic - so much for the daughters of the Republic.
All the best.
