Being is the essence out of which all things evolve. This blog is an ongoing conversation of being in various facets and areas of life, including the personal and the professional from which relationships of all kinds are formed and teams built in all communities, virtual or real, at home, at work, in politics and at play.

Being Alvin Ailey II
President Obama and First Lady Michelle had a "date night" last night at the Kennedy Center where they saw the great Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. "Fix Me" is a universal cry. Enjoy!
My pleasure, Cynthia. I have seen the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater many times since my childhood years. It is a great dance company with Judith Jamison, the past leader dancer as the artistic director. I see the m whenever they come to town or when I'm in New York.
I remember meeting Jamison backstage as a teenage and she looked at me and said, "And who are you?" I couldn't believe that she had found me backstage. It must have been the sheer wonder and awe in my eyes. I had a similiar experience with the wonderful Vinette Caroll. She was also a force. I met her when I was younger and many times thereafter.
Jamison might have also been drawn to speak to me by my sheer height. I had reached my 5' 10" height by then. But she still stood over me by some two or three inches. Wow! I couldn't believe my eyes, looking up at such long elegant limber beauty up close.
I will have to post something here with her in it. She was an amazing dancer. Her book, Dancing Spirit, is also a good read.
