Being Dick Cheney

Why is Dick Cheney speaking out against the Barack administration that has only been in leadership for two weeks? Why is he even talking to the press now? Many believe that former President Bush and former Vice-President Cheney have caused more harm to our country than good both economically and globally.

Here is what the former Vice-President said to Politico.

"When we get people who are more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States against people who are absolutely committed to do anything they can to kill Americans, then I worry."

Perhaps Dick Cheney should go to Palm Springs after so many years of service which many believe to be many years of disservice.

"When we get people who are more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist..." Ah, he's still using the same language to frame the debate. He appears to believe the world is neatly divided between terrorists and non-terrorists. Wish we could graduate beyond this 3rd grade language - which even the media has co-opted.

John - This kind of language is the kind that brought former VP Cheney to power and it is what he is now using to remain in power. It's like he refuses to relinquish power. It is completely unbelievable that many of these guys seem to care more about power than the American people. The war over the stimulus package appears to be more about regaining power than getting it right.

Have you ever known a Vice-President, two weeks into the presidency of another to come out and say such things publicly? You are so right, John, about the "3rd grade language" co-opted by the media. Typically, media types are not among the people I consider the brightest.

Dr. Brzezinski took Joe Scarborough to school one morning and called him "stunningly superficial." I posted the video here. These issues are complex and needs subtlety and nuisance. Who likes to feel as if they are insignificant and disrespected? And military power alone does not represent strength. As you might have noticed President Obama has not spoken about a "war on terror," and we can be assured that he will probably not even speak of such. Words matters.

As my wife, LaShana, would say...

consider the source.

CJ - That is something that I remember hearing on Sunday morning when the ladies were, dare I say, gossiping in the biggest hats and holiest dresses ever!
